A GUIDE TO CREATE YOUR BATHTISM™

Prepare for your soaking ritual by clearing away negative energy and creating space using incense, plant bundles, and candles.

How To

create space

Be sure to protect yourself and your home surfaces from burn damage by using the appropriate tools during your burning ritual.

For burning plant bundles, use a fire safe container or vessel. For incense, use an incense burner and fire safe plate as needed.

Select the plant bundle or incense of choice. You may choose your bundle based upon your desired intention, the energetic or physical properties of the plant, or simply based upon your preferred scent profile.

Light your plant bundle or stick with a lighter. Let it catch flame for a couple seconds, before extinguishing the flame with your breath.

When working with plant bundles, wave the smoke around your room and your body. You may use a feather to waft the smoke into the corners of the room if desired.

Be sure to place your plant bundle into the fire safe container when you are finished. You may choose to cover the container with a fire safe lid to diminish the smoke more quickly.

about

burning rituals

Commonly known as “smudging” or “sage smudging”, here at Bathtisma, we refer to this practice as simply a “burning ritual” to be sensitive to the fact that the term “smudging” has very specific, cultural, and religious significance to many peoples.

Historically, burning rituals have been prevalent as part of sacred rituals practiced by Indigenous Peoples, Native Americans, and ancient Celtic Druids.

Today, burning rituals are practiced by many cultures for spiritual and metaphysical benefits. Should you choose to incorporate burning rituals into your practice, please treat it as a sacred act.
